I received an email/postcard/phone call from a company asking for my personal information. They said they were working on a directory for the University of Georgia Alumni Association. Is this a scam?

It is not a scam. We have partnered with Publishing Concepts (PCI) to produce the University of Georgia’s first alumni directory in more than five years. PCI publishes directories for educational institutions, fraternities, sororities and military organizations across the nation.

This project is going to allow your alma mater to receive important updates for our alumni database so that we can better serve you, our students and future alumni.

Why did the UGA Alumni Association decide to undertake this project?

The last UGA Alumni Directory was printed in 2010. A new directory will not only be of service to those graduates who are interested in reconnecting with fellow alumni, but the updated information will help us invite alumni to university events across the country. In a nutshell, this project will help your alma mater serve you better in the future.

How do I know my information will only be used for the directory?

The UGA Alumni Association has a contractual agreement with PCI that states:

a. The names, addresses and information provided to PCI by the UGA Alumni Association for the publication of the Directory will be held confidential by PCI, except to the extent that they are utilized in, or in the preparation of, the Directory and except as required by court order or law.

b. The Directory will be made available only to alumni of the UGA Alumni Association. Upon completion of the project, PCI will return to UGA any and all electronic files that have been supplied by the UGA Alumni Association or produced by PCI in connection with the production of the Directory.

As part of this project, your information will not be shared with any entity other than UGA and PCI.

If I don’t talk with PCI, what information will automatically be included in the directory on my behalf?

The following information will be included under your entry unless you have previously opted out of receiving print materials from UGA or the UGA Alumni Association.

I would like to verify and update my information. How may I do this?

If you have received a postcard or an email with a telephone number, please call that number to speak with a PCI representative who knows about the UGA Alumni Association project. The representative will verify the information we have on file for you and make any necessary updates. One of the PCI numbers you can also use is (866) 571-1432.

Can anyone purchase a directory? Am I required to purchase a directory?

The UGA Alumni Directory is only available for sale to graduates of the University of Georgia. Individuals can elect to purchase the directory as a book or on a USB drive. You are not obligated to purchase a directory when you call to update your information.

When will I receive my directory?

It will take approximately 12 months to gather the information, build the book and print it. Since this project began in March 2016, directories will be distributed in March 2017.

Can I choose some or all of my information not to be printed in the directory?

When you call to update your information, you can tell the representative what information you would prefer to have excluded from the directory. You may also communicate this information to the PCI customer service desk (800) 982-1590 or to the UGA Alumni Association (alumni@uga.edu).

I ordered a directory/package over the phone and would like to cancel my order. How do I do this?

Please call the PCI customer service help desk at (800) 982-1590. Their team will take care of this for you.

I am still concerned about this project, who can I talk to about it?

If you’d like to speak further about this project, please call or email our office:
