The Story of the Student Alumni Association

The Student Alumni Association (SAA) is where the three pillars of the Arch - Wisdom, Justice, and Moderation - meet the three core values of the University of Georgia Alumni Association - Pride, Loyalty, and Tradition.

In an effort to establish these values in the student body, SAA was created to enhance the academic experience by providing programs and events focused on the spirit, history, and tradition of UGA.  SAA also seeks to connect students with alumni in an effort to promote networking and comaraderie amongst all of the Bulldog faithful, students present and past.

Students who are part of SAA are Georgia Fund donors which means that they are already financial supporters of this great university, the nation's oldest state-chartered public institution.

Why Give?

It's a great question! Doesn't the University receive all the funding it needs from the State of Georgia and tuition?

Not quite. While state funding and tuition/fees make up a sizeable portion of UGA's budget, it still only accounts for about half of what the university needs to operate and provide the optimum experience for students, faculty, and researchers. Funding from private sources are vital to fill the gap. The University of Georgia Foundation  was created in 1937 in order to help bridge that gap and support the teaching, research, public service and outreach programs of UGA.

SAA donors understand that UGA is a community dedicated to enhancing the lives of each individual. The more individuals give a little back, the brighter we can make UGA's future.

After all, we are the "fairest of the Southland."

Go Dawgs!
