Tom Landrum
Senior Vice President for External Affairs
Tom Landrum became senior vice president for external affairs on January 1, 2008, after
serving on an interim basis the previous year. He is responsible for managing the
university's advancement program, which includes fund raising, public affairs, alumni
relations, financial and fund-raising support services, donor relations and stewardship,
and special events.
Prior to becoming interim vice president, Landrum worked 19 years in the office of the president. He was assistant to former President Charles Knapp from 1992 to 1997, and executive assistant to President Michael F. Adams from 1997 to 2007.
Landrum has a bachelor's degree in history and a master's in journalism from UGA and has worked at the university since 1976 when he joined the public relations office as an information specialist and special events officer. He subsequently served as assistant director for publications, director of public relations and executive assistant to the vice president for development and university relations before moving to the president's office.
Before joining UGA, Landrum was a public information officer at Lander College in Greenwood, S.C. He was a visiting lecturer at the University of Heidelberg, Germany, in the summers of 2001, 2002 and 2004.
Landrum is co-advisor of the UGA Blue Key chapter, and a past vice chair of the national Blue Key board of directors. He is on the board of directors of the Georgia Humanities Council and is a member of Phi Kappa Phi scholastic honor society and the National Eagle Scout Association.
