Legacy Fund

The Legacy Endowment of the University of Georgia Foundation Trustees was established by the 2006 Board of Trustees to assure their commitment to the University of Georgia is preserved in perpetuity. The fund was created to assist the University of Georgia in supporting academic initiatives as approved by the board each year. Through the end of fiscal 2009 the Legacy Endowment had received more than $300,000 in gifts from the board and has enjoyed 100% participation among managing trustees since its inception.

Legacy Awards

The College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences

The board of trustees made it first gift of $5,000 from the Legacy Endowment of the University of Georgia Foundation Trustees at its 2007 fall meeting to the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences' Dean's Promise Fund. This gift has been applied to out-of-classroom learning experiences such as international travel, services learning, internships and fellowships.

The Washington DC Semester Program

The University of Georgia Foundation has enthusiastically supported the Washington Semester Program through its Legacy Fund, first providing $10,000 in 2008 and offering an additional $15,000 in 2009. The Washington Semester Program provides internships to expand opportunities for University of Georgia students to live, work and study in our nation's capital. These gifts from the foundation are funded entirely by contributions made by current members of the board of trustees and emeritus trustees.
